On Saturday, February 4, tens of thousands will travel from across the country to the national seat of government with a single, simple demand: Bush Step Down And Take Your Program with You!. The JAN 31 and Feb 4 demonstrations are organized by World Can’t Wait—Drive Out the Bush Regime, the national organization launched November 2, 2005, with actions in nearly 70 cities, including the biggest national high school walk-outs in decades.

As talk of impeachment swirls, support for World Can’t Wait grows by the day with artists, actors, and well-known people in public life including HARRY BELAFONTE, LEWIS LAPHAM, SEAN PENN, SUSAN SARANDON, GLORIA STEINEM, SERJ TANKIAN, CORNEL WEST, HAROLD PINTER, and PAUL HAGGIS, joining US Congressional Representatives JOHN CONYERS, CYNTHIA MCKINNEY, MAXINE WATERS, BOBBIE RUSH, and MAJOR OWENS in signing the World Can’t Wait Call. A full-page NY Times ad appeared on January 20.

Debra Sweet, national coordinator of World Can’t Wait: “The whole regime is illegitimate and indictably criminal. And there is no one in an official position to indict or impeach these criminals who is both willing and strong enough to do so successfully now without an uprising of public sentiment. Everybody knows this. Bush lies, spies, breaks the law, lets thousands die, receives huge disapproval ratings and just keeps going. The only way this regime will be stopped is with a massive, determined, unrelenting protest with the concrete demand that BUSH STEP DOWN and take his program with him. This is what begins this week.”
