On December 22, 2008, 12:40am, 5.4 billion cubic yards of toxic coal sludge breached the earthen dike of a 40 acre waste dump, sending a tsunami of toxic waste into the confluence of the Clinch and Emory Rivers, cover 300 acres of rural Tennessee Valley land.
