Olympic Games in NYC ? Cycle Messenger World Championships in NJ

(from the Open Newswire): A thousand Cyclists from all over the world met in New Jersey last weekend for the Cycle Messenger World Championships. The races could have been held here in NYC, but the City wouldn't grant a permit for the event... so the races were held in Jersey City. Odd when you consider how badly the Mayor is pushing for the coming Olympic Games. I'd like the Mayor to explain WHY an International Sports Competition wasn't welcome while he bows & scrapes to bring an International Sports Competition here?

Thanks a million to all the competitors and bike enthusiasts who came from all over the world to this historical event. Racers from over 30 countries registered to compete or assist. Despite NYC allure as the bike messenger capital of the world, the championship was held in Jersey. Jersey admin. and police did an exceptional job of providing support. NYC police do receive high bench marks for lasting the longest parked in a bike-lane while stuffing themselves with donughts.

The winner of main competition was Karl Stransky from Switzerland. The winning woman racer was Jojo from Sweden.
