Protesters Usher In The New Year At 2004 RNC Site In NYC; March Through Ice Cold Weather
Protesters across from Madison Square Garden.
The bone chilling weather didn't keep protesters away from a rally celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. and demanding that the Bush Regime send the troops home now and end American occupation of countries around the world.
The protest took place across from Madison Square Garden, the site of the 2004 Republican National Convention, on 7th Avenue and 32nd Street in midtown Manhattan. The speakers included New York City Councilmember Charles Barron and International ANSWER's Larry Holmes, who led the protesters in firery chants.
The message was clear as the protesters marched down 34th street toward Madison Avenue: "Send Bush to Mars! Bring the Troops Home!" This is only the beginning of a year long campaign against not only the Bush regime and the RNC, but against the racist politics of both parties that are hurting and killing poor people in the United States and around the world. http://www.internationalanswer.org/ http://www.votenowar.org/
