New York City, Brooklyn--SOFT SKULL PRESS is hosting the New York City launch reading for 100 POETS AGAINST THE WAR edited by Todd Swift, published by Salt Publishing (UK/Australia). Please join us for readings from 100 POETS AGAINST THE WAR with a reception to follow on Friday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. at our bookstore, SOFT SKULL SHORTWAVE. The reading and reception are free. Readers may include (check in with us for updates!) Charles Bernstein Sherry Chandler Daniela Gioseffi Marilyn Hacker Bob Holman W.F. Kennedy John Kinsella George Murray Mark Rudman Grace Schulman Jackie Sheeler Hal Sirowitz Yerra Sugarman Edwin Torres 100 POETS AGAINST THE WAR began as a free, downloadable e-book designed to be printed off, copied double-sided, and distributed as a chapbook. All the contributors donated their poems, and the pieces have been shared, posted, and emailed to countless readers all over the world. Editions have been published in English, French, and German and readings have been held from Seattle, WA to Oxford, England. Additionally, several peace and human rights groups have used the e-book versions as fundraising tools. 100 POETS AGAINST THE WAR is perhaps the speediest world poetry anthology ever compiled--one week from start to finish in January 2003. The second edition added many new poems, and complemented rather than replaceed the original. The third edition followed one week later, and also contained magnificent new poems. On March 3, 2003, Salt Publishing released 100 POETS AGAINST THE WAR. All profits will go to Amnesty International. SOFT SKULL PRESS and SOFT SKULL SHORTWAVE BOOKSTORE are extremely proud to be sponsoring the New York City reading and commend Salt Publishing and all the poets on their generous spirits.
