1. We are the resistance, create items with "The Resistance" printed on them. Promote the concept, give them away, paste them on bulletin boards at work, schools, libraries, grocery stores. Do NOT include any information such as websites, phone numbers, etc. Do not order these items from any source that can be traced to a particular group or individual. The idea is to create an undercurrent of rebellion. Go to a public place, create a scene using "actors" as arch right-wing Pro-Bush/Pro-corporate shills. Gradually "win them over" to peace and justice while getting members of the public involved in the conversation. Yeah!! Everybody gets involved and empowered (the passersby don't need to know that it was street theater). Or, have 50 activists arrive at a public place in groups of two or three, have one group start singing "give peace a chance" and then have the others gradually join in (as if in spontaneous accord), get passersby to join in, but do not let on that it is a preplanned event. Get it all on film and put it on Indymedia. Erase the bondaries between the "protesters" and the "public". Life imitating art. Be sure to practice timing and coordination, leave before security arrives to check it out. Learn to vanish into the crowd. Excellant way to practice other kinds of stealth tactics. 2. Develop solutions that we can implement without federal or state government assistance. For all practical purposes we are on our own! Organize gatherings to form resource sharing collectives and resistance cells. Find out what we have to offer each other. 3. Do not invite mainstream media coverage of the resistance, refuse interviews, tell them to stay away(and watch what happens).Corporate media has assimilated the protests into the Grand Spectacle, and turned us into extras for their Great American Movie. What if we refuse to read from that script? What if, for example, 200,000 people came together to say, "We are done protesting, now we are gathering and organizing for the next level" and leave Asscraft to worry about what the next level might be. We can create events that are a celebration of life, liberty and human rights, not protesting but Proclaiming. 4. Become involved in public referendums and consensus voting. We have already been informed that a "shadow government" is in place "in case of a national emergency". So lets start a campaign to create an alternative "shadow" government, just in case their shadow government gets buried under Cheyene mountain. Hey, it could happen. 5. Make friends with your indigenous neighbors. Admit that this government is a scam and has been all along. We need to create a real consensus government by the people and for the people, not just for white male colonialists like those "Founding Fathers". Liberty and justice for ALL is a great idea whose time has finally come, and is most urgently needed now. 6. Help each other to get off the grids! Yes it can be done and it is being done. Please do not buy into the myth of our dependence on fossil fuels. The money we are spending to "secure" fossil fuel resources would be enough to power every home in this country with alternative energy. If you are currently grid-dependent, create a five year plan to get energy self-sufficent. By the year 2050 we will probably have no choice anyway. Most of the oil reserves will be gone. Boycott the fossil fuel suppliers. 7. Prepare for the collapse of the infrastructure. That means economic disaster, lack of transportation for food, medicines, manufactured goods, etc. Prepare for communication breakdowns and rolling blackouts. Local preparedness means working within our communities to support the use of local renewable resources, local manufacturing, local agriculture, local economies. Contribute your support to local farmers and labor organizations. Get involved in community assessment programs and take stock of what your community resources are. Don't wait until the store shelves are empty. 8. We the People need to make some hard choices and they will only get more difficult and more complex. A good example of this is can be found in Defense Contracting. If you live in a town where the main factory is closed and someone comes along offering to re-open the plant to manufacture Depleted Uranium coated bombs, and promises to bring 1,000 new jobs, what will your town choose to do? What economic alternatives are we prepared to offer? 9. Did you ever set up an Customer Database system for your mechanic in exchange for working on your car? I have. Barter networking may seem impractical on the surface but a quick Google search on this topic can be very informative. Those corporate entities and their friends are bartering globally in natural resources (water and mineral rights, metals, timber, etc.) as well as military "defense" systems. They don't use cash and they don't carry American Express. They do sometimes trade in currency values by manipulating Gold prices and promoting the use of "dollars or euros" depending on which serves their purpose at the moment. These are offshore trade agreements that are unregulated, untaxable and unaccounted for. There are ethical barter/trade associations already in place that can be used by individuals and groups. We can also explore what options we might have below the radar - so to speak, we can barter a lot of goods and services as long as we are not dealing in noticeable volumes. Most of us are actually doing this already, but not in an organized way. 10. Love, not for the hope of heaven, nor for the fear of hell, but simply for the love of love. Peace on Earth is possible! (more to come...)
