Please do remember that there are many very liberal and open-minded individuals who work on these shows. Despite the attempts to convince them to call in sick, they have been instructed by their union to report to work, and therefore really have to in solidarity with their cohorts.

These people will be reporting to work to do the jobs that they're paid to do like everyone else - whether actors, stage crew, or theater management. Please, anyone considering protesting, keep in mind how these people - who in general are an extremely liberal and accepting community who do sympathize with the protesters - will be affected.

As a theater professional (who fortunately does not have to work tomorrow) I'm just concerned for the many people who could be affected just trying to do their jobs and not harm anyone.

Anyone planning a protest, please be peaceful and make your views heard, but not at the expense or suffering of those who agree with you but have to do their job anyway, especially when their job is only to perform and try to make people happy. They're not your enemy.

perhaps they are liberal and open-minded but if they want to be able to continue to be liberal and open-minded, they'd better make themselves heard and to hell with the unions. If they think that they're going to be able to ride a fence and "sympathize", they'd better think again. the time for action is now...

The Union leaders and their faulty heirarchies are no different than the capitalist bosses, cops, and state. They merely use labor as 'human capital' in which to get a seat at the table with the wolves. Fuck em. All power to the rank and file, all power to distributed, decentralized syndicates and action. Keep up the fight. Much love from across the country.

Many of them do make themselves heard. And many of them will be protesting when they're not required to do their jobs.

"To hell with the unions"???? Sure. To hell with the unions. What do we need a union for? Let's let the greedy producers dictate salaries and benefits, cause that sure worked in the past. Look. If you don't understand this industry, maybe you should be protesting one that you do understand.

Few industries in this country are more liberal and open-minded than theater. Maybe you don't understand this because you don't live in New York. But I do, and I've lived and worked in other places. Very rarely will you find as strongly anti-Bush and anti-GOP an industry. And that's who you're trying to hurt.

There are plenty of good ways to protest Republican policites. This is not one of them. You're going to turn a lot of sympathetic people against you.

Protesting and speaking your mind is all well and good, and I support that, and I will be in Central Park shortly. But the real way to win in November is with votes, votes, votes. And I assure you, if this hurtful anti-Broadway action comes off, you are going to hurt your cause far more than you will be helping it.

"Votes, votes, votes..." Surely you must be joking. Bush wants war in Iraq; what does Kerry want? More war in Iraq. Kerry wants to make the Patriot Act stronger, not get rid of any of it. So who are you going to vote for? Kerry and Bush have exactly the same views on policy, they both went to Yale and knew each other and were fraternity brothers in Skull and Bones no less... So who's to vote for? People had better take a stand now, or they'll pay for it later.
