6:30pm Standing on the NE corner 44th and Broadway a group of people (some activists some not, it was hard to tell since there was not an action happening) were suddenly told to move off the sidewalk. A line of cops holding pushed everyone south into the street, where they were than told unkindly to get out of the street on the side walk to the south or face arrest...the lines of were pushing from the south and west than telling people to clear that corner or face arrest pushing people west on the street across Broadway...this repeated until they used orange netting to catch people trying to get away...there where no confrontations...everyone was trying to get away and follow instructions...ridiculous as they were. One or two people caught inside the netted off area jumped the net and ran to safety...at least one person un-arrested himself and broke away from the cops running do the street. All people arrested were very confused as to what had just happened and all where genuinely trying to clear the area. When the arrested respectfully asked why they were being detained cops shouted (from inside their new orange alert net cage that completely closed of the sidewalk) “YOU were blocking pedestrian traffic!†Im guessing this was to clear 45th to 43rd before shows the delights were attending got out.
