Hi, my friend was among the 50 or so people arrested at Times Square. Since I'm not in New York, it's hard for me to get information on how she's doing. So if anyone has any infomation on where the Times Square activists were taken, what they're being charged with, or when they will be released, send me some mail.

I am one of those inside that pen. By the way I got my 5 minutes of "des-fama" in that video.
I am an international grad student from Uruguay South America and I've got to tell you this has brought me back to those days, which I'm glade I didn't see, during the seventies where human rights shone for their absence. They arrested us without any reason, as if they would need one right?, while we were walking with a group of friend and the mother of one of them, in the sidewalk at broadway and 46th, and kept us running the 2004 NYPD blue 24hs Tour through the USA system: Welcome to freedom-land. Thank to the single neuron that they ocassionally fire they released her otherwise showing the most incredible lack of brain in history.
They also let the press go, they lodged in the pen many reporters as well. I wonder why those reporters, who clearly were doing the same as we did, didn't ask for us to leave once they released them clearly admiting nothing was going on in that sidewalk. The press doesn't have my cheers neither (Fuck Fox).
I felt so humiliated, hopeless, desconsolado, depressed that I couldn't believe how "those whom we don't speak of" had brought us into this madness while carrying their proud of democracy and safety within the blue which is not from my sky. "This is bullshit", I heared that 3 times during the Tour, firstly when we got caught, by a surprissingly person-like police officer, Scott, who also basically told me: "take it easy, there is nothing I can do". Secondly by our arresting officer, Divirgilio, a "nice" also person-like young guy who would rather be hunting
"real gangsters" than young students walking the streets. Finally during the finger print thing where the officer spent 20 minutes fighting with a computer and my fingers.
The trip started rolling "spending the night together" in these cages which seemed to be prepared just for us. Between soccer-like attempts, Tai-Chi, dancers and improvs we tried to fight the hottest day of the summer so far. Around 6 in the morning or so and after getting almost no sleep we were sent, pretty much treated as cows, to the police station near china town shackled with these very tied plastic scoffs (btw we had to wait for 30 minutes inside a "burning" small bus before leaving). The trip got "interested" afterwards were we literally hang up together through all the available jails not before justifying some tax-money taking pictures, finger prints and answering questions.
A lot of people was arrested with us and they also locked there the bikers, legal observers and anybody who disordered the strict "stablished order" and got wraped into this orange filter.
We literally were moved from suite to suite of this roustic though artistically decorated palace of justice. An important must of the tour is the food. We had a variated class of healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner: If I see that piece of fiambre de carne de rata again I am gonna get crazy! Of course vegetarian were considered and chese was provided after request (crying or starving if possible). The manager was quite a nice person: "feed them and put them back!" taking care of our balanced diet. The rest of the crew was accordingly always ready to attend any inconvinient: "It's no my problem" (One of the phones didn't work and I have to admit they actually fixed it, I have to say also that compared to the prissions we have at home this was "the paradise" although I am sure that there are also here good images of those we copy up home (if you look at the map correctly ).
Around 3 pm today (monday) and quite tired and dizzy, very convinient for deciding what to do with your case, I was sent to another jail (If I remember correctly I moved throughout a total of 7 or 8 different cages) were I had legal advise, basically either I declared myself guilty of disorder such and such, and I got out quickly without any fine and with my case dismissed after 6 months or I declared not guilty and I had to return for trail. I said: "I am not guilty and I am not going to return to NY for a trial". They just wanted me to say I guess that I wasn't planing to go for the trial because afterward she just said:"Ok, I will get you out of here"
5 minutes later a was outside, terrible tired and completamente desubicado. Of course they had no case at all and they did what they wanted with me in particular, and I couldn't do anything to avoid it where those who were there to protect me and I obeyed were the same that gave me the free ticket to plastic pain and freedom-land.
I figured that going for trial woulnd't really help to change the situation, I don't thing that listening to the judge to say:" We sorry, next please!" wouldn't help me either and I understood after going through this that there are many smart ways we can still fight without hiting the wall directly. Some of my friends are going for trial and I am really supporting them, I should I guess but still there are many things I can do without wasting my time any longer into this system, Frank (K) would have loved this castle.
I am a student in Pittsburgh (CMU) and be sure I will spread this out and not just here but also at home. This has been a very impressive and strong experience I will never forget, and change undoubtly my views about US, which by the way is not getting any better (it wasn't roses before of course). To some extent I guess that I am guilty of trusting when I tell them stories about the past my country and they go "those things don't happen in here".
