They ran over and beat up people in who are in Pier 57 right now. Never thank someone after they trampled your rights. They're on the wrong side of history, just like Bull Connor was during the Civil Rights movement.

Scooter goons, outriders of the rnc (nurnberg rally) drove viciously down a side walk on 28th between 7th and 8th in their rush to get to the fray on 8th and 28th a couple of nights ago at the end of the Poor Peoples march. The sidewalk was crowded with people fleeing the cop-inspired melee on 8th. People were knocked to the side, and terrorized. This kind of appalling behaviour characterizes this degenerate squad of bullies.
These guys would make great SS.

Cops are not the enemy. They are working class folk from blue collar family, who are more likely to know someone serving in Iraq than we are. Bush's policies are screwing them even more than us (given many protesters are from middle class families). We should appeal to them and get them over to our side, away from Bush-- instead of driving them into Bush's arms. I know there's been some (a lot of?) police brutality, but they are not the enemy. Our fight is against the repressive state and the Bush administration, not against the footsoldiers who have to carry out the work or risk their paycheck.

Imagine a day when cops refuse to brutalize protesters, because they realize we are fighting for their rights as well. Because a cop's family can have someone sent to Iraq to die a senseless death to protect oil and corrup Iraqi reformed Baathists who are now the interim govt. We should be handing out literature to the cops as well. If even one of them takes it home and reads it, it may change his mind.

In Bangladesh, we overthrew a military junta that ruled us for 10 years because one day after months of protesting where people had been shot and killed, the army one day simply refused to carry out the General's orders to shoot people.
