Close-Range Video: Deployment of Orange "Freedom Netting" - 1.5M
If you were one of the thousands of people arrested on the militarized streets of New York City during the RNC, this is very likely one of the last things you saw before they took you away. If you weren't, please feel free to experience it vicariously through this video. New York's finest are working overtime in the sweltering streets of Manhattan to stifle all dissent and to insulate filthy rich Republican delegates from criticism--and you are there, thanks to modern technology! You can almost smell the acrid stench of political repression, can't you? Oh, wait...that's sweat. Hey, I told you it was hot. This was taken at about 5:00 PM on A29 on 46th and Broadway. I was lucky; as one of the first waves of people to be arrested, I only had to spend about 20 hours at "Little Gitmo." I showed this video (on the tiny screen of the camera I used to shoot it) to as many press people as I could buttonhole. None of the mainstream media reporters I showed it to had any idea that it was being used until I showed them. They all jotted something down about it; we'll see if it ever surfaces. The Indymedia people I ran into all knew about it, of course.
