LeiLani's speech & FIST's intervention in the M19 protests gave them an important political direction. We need to oppose the current poverty drft and the proposed "regular" draft to emphasize that the war is losing support and popularity in the USA, too. The desertion rates and enlistment rates make some kind of expanded draft almost inevitable if U$ oil companies want to hold onto their stake in Iraq. In this climate of decreasing public support, the state is turning to repressive measures to feed the military and stop dissent.

FIST's small but LOUD contingent kept the spirits up during the marches with very topical political chants! GO FIST!

I donno what you are excited about it's just a new front for WWP. Next year they'll probably have a group called PENIS (Penalize Empire Now Institute Socialism) or something else with homosexual innuendo...

They make new fronts every other month I mean maybe they had energy but it's just the same ol' WWP cadres as usual just a different name.

FIST isn't such a bad group. I wouldn't call them a "front" exactly, because they're pretty clear that they're the youth wing of the Worker's World Party; it's not exactly a state secret. Alot of the people I saw and occasionally talked to in their contingent looked like relatively new youth activists, not the "same ol' WWP cadres."

I'm not a supporter of the WWP, but it's kinda disappointing how its seems like EVERYTHING that's remotely attached to them in some way or another gets ripped into and attacked on that basis, and not on what they do or what they actually stand for.
