With legions of poor people struggling to escape New Orleans, Jabbor Gibson, 18, took matters into his own hands. He stole an abandoned school bus, loaded about 100 people onto it, and drove them 7 hours to the Astrodome. The group of mostly teenagers and young adults pooled what little money they had to buy diapers for the babies and fuel for the bus, according to The Houston Chronicle. When told that he might be prosecuted for “looting”, Gibson was unmoved. “"I don't care if I get blamed for it, as long as I saved my people."
