Lawrence Hayes former NY death row prisoner and
Black Panther. He was framed by the NYPD and tried
when he was only 19! Lawrence is an active member in
the struggle against the death penalty and the
criminal justice system that has tried to repress him
since he has been out on parole.

- Monique Matthews, sister of exonerated Louisiana
death row prisoner Ryan Matthews. Since her brother
was sent to death row, Monique has been a tireless
activist against the death penalty. Because of
hurricane Katrina and like many poor men and women in
Louisiana, Monique and her family have been displaced
and are trying to piece back their lives together. But
that has not stop Monique from traveling across the
country to tell her story and expose the racist
criminal justice system.

- Billy Sothern, a Louisiana anti-death penalty
lawyer. Among other things, he will talk about the
work that he has been doing to represent poor people
in Louisiana, and the issues of racism and lack of
resources that his clients face. He will also
certainly talk about how hurricane Katrina has dealt a
huge blow to the many poor men and women his office
represents (many of the files where lost).
