Rick Smith Pumps TASR

Here is the latest attempt by Taser and the Smiths to pump some badly needed PR into the mix of so much negative news of late. It has just been released by Taser that the allegedly benevolent Taser Foundation is holding a silly card game at the new world headquarters of Taser International on November 5th. The Saturday afternoon event is being sponsored by one of the soon to be subpoenaed favored Taser distributors, GT Distributing. It is Taser’s intention to attract a “major” player of the “World Series of Poker” to attend the event. Whether he plays is another question. The fundraiser is supposedly open to “High Rollers” but there has been no mention of how much the buy-in will be. The Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will probably be videoed for later web-casting during the next schedules web-conference call that Taser promotes to its investors. I wonder if any Investors who lost their shirts on TASR stock will attend. They must like to gamble.
The best part is that Taser claims that 100% of the NET proceeds will go to families of fallen officers. Of course as previously disclosed on this blog, Taser will only distribute funds as they see fit, in amounts that they dictate and only if asked for by the Chief of the officer’s department, and only if the death occurs after August 1st of last year. Several sources who are familiar with the foundation’s operation still claim that Foundation board members receive honorariums for their services, which begs the question; just what does the balance sheet really look like? As a C3 Tax Exempt entity, the foundation’s finances are above public scrutiny. I wonder how the foundation invests its holdings, and just where it’s invested. Maybe New York State’s Attorney General Elliot Spitzer should look into it. Wouldn’t that be fun?
