According to Building Bridges Radio:

"Despite a greater than $1 billion budget surplus, the New York City's Metropolitian
Transit Authority has offered the Transport Workers Union Local 100 a 3% wage
increase tied to givebacks in pension and health care for newly hired workers.
Local 100 is threatening a citywide transit strike this coming Tuesday despite New
York State's draconian Taylor Law outlawing public employee strikes. This action would
grind the City to a halt. Outraged by Authority's paltry offer which would barely keep up
with inflation and sacrifice the next generation of workers , unions and community
suporters from throughout the city are joining Local 100 in solidarity. Many blame
Governor Pataki's national ambitions for the intransigence of this Authority over
which he holds sway. "
