2 WEST 64TH STREET AT CENTRAL PARK WEST

Voices of a People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn and Anthony Arnove is the long-awaited primary-source companion to Zinn’s bestselling A People’s History of the United States. In it, Zinn and Arnove have selected testimonies to living history—speeches, letters, poems, songs—left by the people who make history happen, but who usually are underrepresented or misrepresented in history books: women, Native Americans, workers, blacks and Latinos.

It features the words of rebels and dissenters such as Frederick Douglass, George Jackson, Chief Joseph, Martin Luther King Jr., Plough Jogger, Sacco and Vanzetti, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Mark Twain, and Malcolm X, to name just a few. Their words will be read by several renowned artists and performers. Join us for an extraordinary event when these voices of struggle come alive.

All tickets are US$15.00 or US$10.00 with Socialism 2006 Conference registration (see below). Tickets on sale via Ticket Central Online at www.ticketcentral.com. By phone at (212) 279-4200 (daily 12-8pm) or in person at the box office at 416 West 42nd St. For more information: (646) 452-8631 or  info@socialismconference.org.
