A coalition of anti-war groups held a demonstration in Washington Heights.

About 250 people gathered at Bennett Park then proceeded to march through most of Washington Park before ending up in Highbridge Park. Along the way they stopped to pay respects to two American soldiers from Washington Heights killed in Iraq and to hold a short demonstration at a military recruiting station.

While some of the usual New York City anti-war suspects participated in the demonstration, the vast majority of the marchers were black and hispanic teenagers from the local area concerned about military recruitment in schools and the possibility of the return of the draft.
