New York City, New York, June 27, 2009. A British author who developed a theory he calls "Cheating the Ferryman" will be hosted by Gnosis Arts Multimedia in a public lecture and reception at Midtown's Landmark Roosevelt Hotel on Monday, August 3.

Peake rose to prominence in 2005 when his piece entitled, "Cheating the Ferryman: A New Paradigm for Existence?" appeared in the Journal of Near Death studies and was lauded by Carlson Professor of Psychiatry Bruce Greyson as " the most provocative and innovative" explanation of immortality he had encountered. The piece was expanded into a text, published in 2006 by Chartwell Books, under the slightly misleading title, "Is There Life After Death?: The Extraordinary Science of What Happens When We Die". A second book, "The Daemon: A Guide to Your Extraordinary Secret Self" appeared in 2008, under Arcturus Publishing.

Peake is a binary mind theorist who advocated a secret second self within each individual, called the "daemon". The term is taken from Greek antiquity, and means super-image or transcendent self. Conversely, the "eidolon", or daily self ( a false idol, to the transcendent self) is a somewhat illusory being who cannot survive death. However, the daemon can "cheat the ferryman" , overturing the mythology of the ancients in which Charon, the boatman, in the end ferries us to the realm of death. Peake draws on the Implicate Order thesis of David Bohm to articulate a process, he terms, "Bohmian I-MAX", in which the daemon grants us an eternal life of evolving recurrences, straight out of the longed for dream of 19th century German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche.

Peake is a professional member of the International Scientific and Medical Network and the Society for Near Death Studies. This July he is honored platform lecturer at the National Theatre in London, and appears in a documentary released by that organization, concerning J.B. Priestley's classic play of Time and Mind, "Time and the Conways". His theory has been lauded by the esteemed Fortean Times.

Peake uses brain science, neurology, right/left brain studies, near death experience, cognitive psychology and classical philosophy to revel a stunning theory of human consciousness which enriches and informs. Gnosis Arts Multimedia is honored to host his first New York City author's appearance.
