The shock-and-awe invasion went on as planned.
The repulsive occupation continues to this day.

FREE FILM SCREENINGS: ATENCO and OAXACA, August 24th & 31st, back to back Thursdays, at 8PM

This video analyzes the events in San Salvador Atenco during the
first days of May, 2006 and denounces the violation of the civilian
population's human rights by state and federal police forces. The
documentary deconstructs the mass media's operating methods, which were
responsible for creating a climate of fear and an information blockade
on the events in San Salvador Atenco, in the midst of an especially
delicate situation: the 2006 process of presidential succession in Mexico.

Tea Party at the Hague

budgie | Is the Hague court a joke or have we just lost our sense of perspective? The latest indiscriminate slaughter of children and innocent civilians in Lebanon by ‘God’s chosen’ seems not to warrant the attention of the Hague court. Carla Del Ponte’s latest remonstration against the Serbian leadership for not delivering war criminals to her court seems ‘slightly’ dissociative in view of recent events. Her obsession with Serbs now borders on the pathological. Would the civilian death toll in Iraq warrant her attention? Iraq now approaches one hundred thousand innocent civilian deaths – eighty percent directly attributable to the forces of occupation! more...  1 Comments

Creative Chaos: Review of "Graffiti" at the Brooklyn Musuem

Black Man With a Library | Yesterday I went to the Brooklyn Museum to check out the "Graffiti "show. As a child of the 1980s, I remember vividly the aerosol chaos that covered the CC train that my brother and I took on our way to school in the Bronx. Those were crazy times, where the ground of the city was shifting under our feet. Crack cocaine devastated our community and kids were worried about getting AIDS from water fountains. Violence was the norm and so was poverty as I made quick friends on the free cheese line at the Polo Grounds community center. [Read More] more...  0 Comments

Screening: "i" the film (2006) , TONIGHT

naw ( | at the Times-Up space, 49 E. Houston st., between Mott/Mulberry (

According to Naomi Klein, "i" "positively vibrates with the energy and
creativity of the movement it documents. Beautiful, intellectual,
riotous, it fits in no box (and no blurb)— just see it!" "i" is a
meditation on the relationship between media and power as it is
manifested by the worlds largest all volunteer network of media
activists — Indymedia. The feature-length documentary follows the
first year of a small collective in Buenos Aires as it struggles
amidst assassinations, a collapsing economy, and a whirlwind of
political upheaval.
