TradeJustice NY Metro | Two activists disrupted a reception for Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez to denounce Uribe’s support for a free trade agreement between the US and Colombia. Activists shouted, “No Free Trade Agreement with Uribe’s death squad government! Over 100 union organizers have been killed in the last 2 years in Colombia! The free trade agreement will mean more Afro-Colombian communities displaced for oil palm plantations and more indigenous people displaced for oil pipelines!” more... 5 Comments
Todd Vachon | Unfortunately the corporately owned media is treating this like just another big bailout, necessary to "save the middle-class." Missing is the fact that this current economic crisis is not simply the result of a few greedy "bad apples", but was in fact a very predictable result of 3 decades of deregulation by Republicans and Democrats alike. more... 0 Comments

Outraged Citizen | With millions of people reeling from the recent implosion of the U.S.'s financial system, Wall Street is demanding a $700 billion taxpayer-financed bailout. This is beyond brazen. We cannot trust either the Republicans or the Democrats to do the right thing. We have to raise our voices to speak out and challenge this system of legalized robbery. Those of us who live in New York have a chance to grab the media spotlight this Thursday while the bailout legislation is still being debated and give a public face to the anger and the dismay that millions of Americans are feeling. See you there! more... 0 Comments
