Editorial Cartoon: Never Mind the 'Big Tent'...

Mike Flugennock | At least up until the last "election" or two, you used to hear a lot – especially from the Donkeycrats – about the proverbial "Big Tent", ostensibly used to symbolize the Party's acceptance of diverse constituencies, but was actually just a cheesy way for your Party to pander to segments of the voting population it normally wouldn't give the time of day to.

Once again though, huge props to the Obama Mob for taking this concept a bold step further... more...  4 Comments

Coalition Poised to Topple Canada's Conservative Government

Jacob Scheier | Canada's three opposition parties have formed a potentially progressive coalition in an attempt to topple the recently re-elected Conservative minority government. Such a transition of power, despite Conservative objections, is in accordance with the parliamentary system and therefore democratic. The question that remains, should the coalition be successful, is how much will the New Democratic Party's often progressive agenda shape this new government. more...  0 Comments

You’ll still get more change from McDonalds than you will from Obama

MN Roy | Now that Barack Obama has picked a cabinet that Carl Rove feels at home with, isn’t it time for the “left” to look reality in the face instead of keeping their heads up the Democrats’ derrieres and acting as if “everything is possible” because the preferred candidate of the capitalist class won. more...  3 Comments

Editorial Cartoon: White House Bathroom, Jan. 21 2009

Mike Flugennock | Rahm Emmanuel? Tom Daschle? Eric Holder? Hillary, f'crissakes? Just in case you're still wondering – you're certainly not the only one marveling at the number and quickness of old Clinton mobsters and liberal interventionists crawling out from under their rocks to score cushy gigs with the Change Administration. No goddamn' wonder President-Elect Change practically fell over his wingtips trying to disavow himself from the Donkeycratic Leadership Council when they were giving him big ups way back at the dawn of the last Presidential "Election" campaign... more...  2 Comments

The list of establishment appointees devoted to “change" goes on and on.

Eric Walberg | "What the progressives in the US must now do is mobilise, mobilise, mobilise, and articulate a clear, cogent agenda for real change. The old adage holds true more than ever: No pain — no gain.
It seems the only thing we can truly feel some exhilaration for at this point is the fact that Obama’s father was a black Muslim and his mother an altruistic humanitarian who truly loved other cultures and devoted her life to better understanding among peoples. Let us hope for some sign that their spirit lives on in their son to help fight off the demons who surround him at present." more...  1 Comments

Turning the Corner

Sudhama Ranganathan |

During the tenure of the now outgoing Bush administration we watched our government play out a series of acts which for many strained our faith in the highest office. That office allowed intelligence warning of attacks on our homeland to slip idly by. The same office clamped down on its citizens freedoms when it was their own mistakes that landed us in trouble. They ignored reports of insufficient evidence to prove weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. They then invaded Iraq on the premise there were WMD and none have yet to be found. The US economy and the US dollar value slid rapidly under their watch, due in no small part to an overly zealous policy of de-regulation.

Let's Not Get Organized By Barack Obama

Tom Kertes | Barack Obama and I share one thing in common. I am a community organizer. And so was Barack Obama. From this, I imagine, we've witnessed many of the same injustices, heard similar stories of people being beaten down and being taken advantage of, and have studied the same strategies and tactics for how to build power for the powerless. Given this, why did Barack Obama stop community organizing? more...  1 Comments
