Teachers Debate Contract, Move Online

OnNYturf | Despite the rosy press conference at city hall announcing the new teacher contract, how teachers feel about the proposal is still up in the air. If recent posts at Edwize, the UFT community site, over the past few days are any indication, there is still convincing to be done. The Teacher's Deligate Assembly will vote on ratifying the contract proprosal tomorrow. Assuming that happens, it will then be put before the teachers for a vote.

I am glad to be able to mention Edwize.com in a story because something interesting is happening online here. We may be seeing the formation of the most significant NYC-centric online political community yet. [Read More] more...  3 Comments

"The People are Boiling with Rage"

Andrea Bohm | Hurricane Katrina had blown the problems in GW Bush's face that he wanted to be rid of with chruches and caritas: class, poverty and race. In the view of many Bush critics, the chaotic emergency relief in the hurricane area was also a consequence of a policy of state dismantling and deregualtion.. Watergate Is Dead

Chris Anderson | Watergate-- or rather, the myth of what Watergate was-- is dead. Like many aging corpses, the myth shows signs of a long, slow decline into irrelevant senility; nevertheless, the final blows have been painful to watch.

The coup de grace came on Friday afternoon, known to politicians and media watchers alike as “document dumping” day, the time when bad news is buried by the weekend in order to avoid media scrutiny. This time, however, it seems that it was the media itself that did the dumping. “A New York Times reporter has given investigators notes from a conversation she had with a top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney weeks earlier than was previously known,” wrote Reuters late Friday. “Reporter Judith Miller discovered the notes -- from a June 2003 conversation she had with Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby -- after her testimony before the grand jury last week.” more...  4 Comments

They financed her Military spending sprees and exasperated her severe addiction to oil.
These problems finally led to her downfall and destruction.
To all her Family and Friends I offer my sincere condolences.
May we all learn from her mistakes and avoid her fate.
Those who study history should learn from her mistakes
