Bear Witness to Homeless Families being Thrown Into the Street TODAY 10/12/07

This dangerous policy change will result in homeless families with children being turned away to the streets. We are organizing community leaders, activists, homeless individuals and families, and people of faith to gather at the PATH, the City's intake office for homeless families, TODAY between 4 and 6pm to bear witness and stand in solidarity with homeless families without shelter. 346 Powers Avenue, Bronx Take the 4 or 5 train to 125th Street. Educators and Journalists for Mumia | Both "Educators for Mumia" and "Journalists for Mumia" are asking people to please contact the media about the new EMAJ press-release titled "Jurors Never Saw Earliest Photos at Abu-Jamal’s 1982 Trial."

The press-release states that “German linguist, Michael Schiffmann (University of Heidelberg), has disclosed his discovery of 26 photographs, taken by press photographer Pedro Polakoff, which suggest more evidence that basic investigative protocol was violated by police from the earliest moments of the killing…."

While Polakoff's photos have received coverage from the alternative media, not even one big media outlet has reported on these photos yet.

Editorial Cartoon: "Human Energy"

Mike Flugennock | So, as usual, I'm waking up one morning last week to find that my wife already has the morning news on. It's CNN's "American Morning", just wrapping up a piece on the rebellion in Burma, and following it with one of those obnoxious, cloying Chevron Oil "human energy" ads and, though way too early, my foggy brain starts going "Burma… Chevron… Burma… Chevron…" …and, as usual, a train wreck of dissonant ideas in my early-morning REM state causes inspiration… more...  0 Comments

Jurors Never Saw Earliest Crime Scene Photos at Mumia's 1982 Trial

Educators for Mumia | German linguist, Michael Schiffmann (University of Heidelberg), has disclosed his discovery of 26 photographs, taken by press photographer Pedro Polakoff, which suggest more evidence that basic investigative protocol was violated by police from the earliest moments of the killing.

The very existence of these photos, and what they show, together with the many other indicators of prosecutorial abuse, manipulation of witnesses and violation of Abu-Jamal’s constitutional rights, give still firmer ground that Abu-Jamal did not receive a fair trial. more...  0 Comments
