Sorreta, STOP APOLOGIZING FOR THE US CONGRESS

Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC) | We, the Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) take exception and criticized the apologies of Philippine Embassy Charge d’ affaires Carlos Sorreta that after the passage of SB 1315 minus the Filipino provisions “that the quest for justice should not be divisive”

In the first we ask who is dividing whom? This is the first time that all Filipino veterans groups, the community and all our allies are united against HB 6897 which is a quit claim bill and for SB 1315. The fact that SB 1315 passed the US Senate with a vote of 96-1 is a testament of that unity. more...  0 Comments

Jewwatch News

James Stenzel |

Jew Watch is a racist website/hatesite that describes itself as “The Internet's Largest Scholarly Collection of Articles on

Jewish History" and as “a Not-For-Profit Library for private study, scholarship, or research.” The site is widely categorized

as an antisemitic hate site.
The site became notorious in April 2004 when it emerged as the first result in a Google search for the word “Jew”. A scandal

in 2006 involved solicitations for donations to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina being redirected to Jew Watch.

Please sign the petition to have jewwatch removed from the google search engine:

Activists Disrupt Reception for Colombian Prez to Protest Free Trade Agreement

TradeJustice NY Metro | Two activists disrupted a reception for Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez to denounce Uribe’s support for a free trade agreement between the US and Colombia. Activists shouted, “No Free Trade Agreement with Uribe’s death squad government! Over 100 union organizers have been killed in the last 2 years in Colombia! Uribe is lying about demobilizing the death squads! The free trade agreement will mean more Afro-Colombian communities displaced for oil palm plantations and more indigenous people displaced for oil pipelines!” more...  5 Comments

RECOGNITION FOR FILIPINO WORLD WAR II VETERANS, NO TO RACISM AND BIGOTRY

Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) | Yesterday, we came to San Francisco Office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi to protest and express our support to SB 1315 and opposition to HR 6897 of Congressman Bob Filner. HR 6897.

As we protest, we heard that SB 1315 passed but minus the section pertaining to our veterans. This says the Congress does not recognize their war time services and do not give the same benefits as our American counterparts have. It is an insult to Filipino American community and the historical contributions of the Filipino people who lost one million lives in the war. more...  0 Comments

Plan Mexico and Plan Colombia: Sen. Dodd Blasted

Juan | We join a growing chorus of human rights activists, religious leaders and labor leaders opposing the militarization of South and Central American society under the pretext of a 'war on drugs'.

Why, after eight years of billions of dollars in resources under this false rubric, do we have 3.8 million internally displaced Colombians, greater coca production, and more human rights violations? Plan Colombia is a failure. Why is it a model for the Merida Initiative (aka Plan Mexico)? more...  4 Comments

New York socialites dismayed by protest at Leviev-sponsored fundraiser

Adalah-NY | Manhattan’s elite were aghast to be greeted this evening by 25 chanting protesters when they exited their SUVs and limos to attend a glitzy fundraiser sponsored by Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev for the Museum of the City of New York. Leviev has been criticized for his businesses’ human rights violations and unethical practices in Palestine, Angola, Namibia and New York City. The Director of the Museum of the City of New York had failed to respond to phone calls and a September 16th letter from the New York rights coalition Adalah-NY, that is promoting a boycott of Leviev’s businesses. Adalah-NY’s letter informed the museum of the inconsistency of Leviev’s business practices with the museum’s mission, and with non-profit ethical standards. more...  2 Comments

Obama and 'the Bubba Vote'

Mumia Abu-Jamal | There is another factor that we cannot ignore; what former GOP house majority leader, Dick Armey (R - Tex) calls 'the Bubba vote.

In Armey's words, "The Bubba vote is there, and it's very real, and it is everywhere," Armey went on to explain what he meant by 'the Bubba vote'; "There's an awful lot of people in America, bless their heart, who simply are not emotionally prepared to vote for a black man." There it is. more...  0 Comments
