NJ Parents: Keep Military Out of School Cafeteria | (from In Highland Park NJ, the Central Jersey Coalition Against Endless War met with the local school board on Monday to request that military recruiters be only allowed access to students in the school guidance office -- not the cafeteria.

Brooklyn Stadium Protest

fred askew | Hundreds of activists marched from Brooklyn to Manhattan to protest Forest City Ratner's proposal for 20 high rises and a sports arena in Prospect Heights Brooklyn. The march started at Brooklyn Borough Hall and concluded with a rally at City Hall. Pacifica Radio: A Network at War

Tom Gomez | Since ostensiblly winning a campaign to recapture the small progressive Pacifica network that spanned years, involving at one time three seperate lawsuits, and 10's of thousands of its active listerners, the tiny network is once again at war with itself.....Having, along with senior producer Ryme Kakthouda, joined in filing complaints of discrimination on basis of national origin and ethnicity at the last meeting of our national board in NYC, ( and with women angry about sexism, and the networks failure to do anything more than deny its existence, planning an actual march on Berkley to file similar complaints next month, all matters likely to head into litigation within a matter of weeks now, this seemed like a good time to carve up all the sacred cows. more...  5 Comments

NY Groups Urge Recall of Philippine Consul Cecilia Rebong!

RC Yuson | In an emergency meeting on the eve of NYC’s annual Philippine Independence Day celebration, the New York/New Jersey Chapter of Anakbayan, a national youth organization in the Philippines, and the NY Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (NYCHRP) have resolved to call for an immediate recall of NY Consul General Cecilia Rebong from her post. The main reason for the demand stems from Rebong’s and the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) unapologetic position on the lavish spending of Philippine federal funds to accommodate a $10k a month rental fee for Rebong’s two-bedroom apartment in Manhattan’s Trump Tower along First Avenue. more...  0 Comments
