Massive Police Attack Underway in Oaxaca

Internationalist Group | A massive police attack is underway in Oaxaca City at this moment. The APPO leadership has called on its supporters to pull back and seek refuge. On Friday night, two APPO leaders were seized and disappeared. This afternoon was the 7th mega-march in Oaxaca, which brought out several tens of thousands of marchers, including many teachers who had gone back to work. The march proceeded peacefully for several hours until it got within two blocks of the center of the city. Thereupon the PFP, (the Federal Police) started firing off massive quantities of tear gas which covered the whole city center. They also burned the planton (encampment) outside the Santo Domingo church. Now the cops are rampaging in the city center.

Mexico: revolution takes another step forward

By Jorge Martin | Despite the bitter cold, hundreds of thousands once again filled the massive Zocalo Square in the Mexican capital on Monday, November 20th. They were there to participate in the ceremony of the swearing in of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), of the left wing PRD, as the legitimate president of Mexico, in a clear act of rejection of the electoral fraud which robbed him of his victory in the July 2nd presidential elections.

This was the continuation of a protest movement which saw millions take to the streets for a period of three months and which culminated in a National Democratic Convention (CND) on September 16th where more than one million delegates decided not to recognise the official results of the presidential elections and to declare AMLO as the only legitimate president of the country. more...  0 Comments
