Democrat’s New Spy Bill – Lulling Americans Into False Sense of Security

William Lewis | The war on terror and the war on freedom are nonpartisan issues. Both Democrats and Republicans alike have consistently voted for legislation that, through the illusion of protecting our families and our homeland, have actually removed critical components of the U.S. Constitution. Will the Democrat’s new FISA Spy Bill be any different? more...  0 Comments

Multiple 9/11s every day of the year: Why is there no war on this terror?

Shreeram Krishnaswami | "Another child will die in the time it takes to read this sentence. And the death of that child, a child who had a name and a personality, a family and a future, is a rebuke to all humanity. It is no longer necessary. It is therefore no longer acceptable."

AJLPP-USA | The March 15 mass protest in Los Angeles on the 5th anniversary of the Iraq war was a huge success.
At least 10,000 people marched to stop the war in Los Angeles in a major outpouring of anti-war support. Thousands more marched in cities across the world. Congratulations to all who came out to voice opposition to war and militarism.

The rally was held infornt of the CNN building in Sunset Blvd. Join us this Tuesday to keep the anti-war momentum going. Join the Student Campaign to Stop the War. This generation of students are not apathetic. Thousands of the protesters at the March 15 mass march in Los Angeles were students and young workers. All participated out of a profound desire to end the criminal war of aggression against the Iraqi people. Bushwick Teens Resist Recruiting (Indypendent)

Liza Minno | Military recruiters are a familiar site in Bushwick, Brooklyn, a predominately Black and Hispanic immigrant neighborhood where nearly 30 percent of residents live below the poverty line. The area is serviced by two recruiting stations, one on Myrtle Avenue and one in neighboring East New York. Recruiters approach students after school in major shopping thoroughfares like Knickerbocker Avenue, while high schools students receive visits from former students who have joined the military. more...  0 Comments

Can we be anti-war but pro-troops?

Mickey Z. | The Left praised Vietnam era draftees who fled to Canada. Yet, today’s volunteer warriors are given a free pass because they didn’t give the orders in an illegal war and occupation. This is not only illegal and immoral; it also lacks any radical credibility. Somehow, individuals and groups can stand tall against war and military intervention but refuse to shine a light on those who choose (and get paid) to fight. more...  2 Comments

Colombia's Uprooted People: The Internal Displacement crisis in Colombia

WOLA (Washington Office in Latin America) | Political violence in Colombia has caused one of the world's worst internal displacement crises, with more than 4 million people uprooted over the past 20 years. Illegal armed groups have unleashed unprecedented violence to force people off their land and silence peaceful opposition to the violations. As a result, these illegal armed groups exercise social, political and economic control over vast tracts of the territory. CLINTON, OBAMA AND THE IRAQ WAR

13 organizations demand Waldorf-Astoria cancel "Friends of IDF" fundraiser

Adalah-NY | As thirteen organizations working for human rights, social justice, and peace, we demand that The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan rescind its agreement to host the March 18 fundraiser for “Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.” The Israeli military has been historically a flagrant violator of human rights and international law as demonstrated by last week’s attack on Gaza which killed over 100 Palestinians, the 2006 attack on Lebanon, and the 60-year assault on and dispossession of the Palestinian people.
