ROTC Get Out, Stay Out! Obama wants You to Serve Imperialism

Revolution no. 5 | Barack Obama dropped a bomb on his young enthusiasts at Columbia University on September 11. The heavily Democratic crowd booed McCain when he called for the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) to be brought back to campus (it was driven out in 1969 by protests against the Vietnam war). Liberal students expected a different answer from Columbia alum Obama, but the forum was a symphony of agreement as both candidates campaigned for expanding the military and pledged their enthusiastic support to U.S. imperialism. That should have been the tip-off for anyone who hadn’t figured it out by then: Obama is no "peace candidate" but like McCain he is a certified imperialist war candidate. more...  0 Comments

New York socialites dismayed by protest at Leviev-sponsored fundraiser

Adalah-NY | Manhattan’s elite were aghast to be greeted this evening by 25 chanting protesters when they exited their SUVs and limos to attend a glitzy fundraiser sponsored by Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev for the Museum of the City of New York. Leviev has been criticized for his businesses’ human rights violations and unethical practices in Palestine, Angola, Namibia and New York City. The Director of the Museum of the City of New York had failed to respond to phone calls and a September 16th letter from the New York rights coalition Adalah-NY, that is promoting a boycott of Leviev’s businesses. Adalah-NY’s letter informed the museum of the inconsistency of Leviev’s business practices with the museum’s mission, and with non-profit ethical standards. more...  2 Comments

Obama, McCain urged to unite against terrorism

Shehmir Gorgej | In spite of reports in The Washington Post and Pakistan's DAWN newspaper that Pakistani troops fired at a U.S. helicopter that was raiding an Al Qaeda safehouse in Southern Waziristan, the defence estalbsihments in the two countries denied the incident.
Realpolitick and business interests of the military-industrial complex seems to be blocking a sound U.S. policy on defanging Pakistan's military. more...  0 Comments

The Mutilation of Bodily and Political Integrity - Police Brutality in NY State

Gretchen R. | In the spring of this year, several students of Binghamton University were brutalized by police when peacefully commemorating the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
