The list of establishment appointees devoted to “change" goes on and on.

Eric Walberg | "What the progressives in the US must now do is mobilise, mobilise, mobilise, and articulate a clear, cogent agenda for real change. The old adage holds true more than ever: No pain — no gain.
It seems the only thing we can truly feel some exhilaration for at this point is the fact that Obama’s father was a black Muslim and his mother an altruistic humanitarian who truly loved other cultures and devoted her life to better understanding among peoples. Let us hope for some sign that their spirit lives on in their son to help fight off the demons who surround him at present." more...  1 Comments

London moot on Baluch issues proposed

Mir Chakar Rind | On the occassion of the first death anniversary of Nawabzada Bala'ach Marri, member of the Baluchistan state assembly who was killed during his struggle against Pakistan army, strikes were observed all over Baluchistan. Texas-sized Baluchistan was annexed by Pakistan against the wishes of its people in March 1948. The state has witnessed five bloody uprisings, which the Baluch call the wars of liberation, that have left tens of thousands of people killed. The American Friends of Baluchistan founder Ahmar Mustikhan sent a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari requesting him to call a meeting in London, with NATO as an international observer, to find a lasting solution to the bloody crisis. Zardari, who is a Baluch, was requested to act fast before the Pakistan army generals boot him out--the South Asian nation has remained under military rule for more than half of its independent existence. Mustikhan deplored the continued killing of the Baluch and is spearheading an international campaign to collect 100,000 signatures to have the nuclear tests stopped in Baluchistan:

Restore Section 4 of SB 1315 for the Filipino Veterans
and junk HR 6897—the quit claim bill.

We call on the US Congress to immediately call a joint conference committee and reconcile SB 1315 and HR 6897, which were both passed at the House of Representatives last September 22, 2008.

We demand that the joint US Congress conference committee restore the provision in SB 1315 on the Filipino Veterans, the full recognition and benefits for the last surviving veterans, for the widows and relatives of the Filipino World War II Veterans. Provide justice and equity to the surviving 18,000 Filipino World War II veterans who served valiantly the United States during the Second World War. They deserve recognition, honor, respect and their benefits.
