finch | Bush confesses his criminality and hopes that his ‘act’ of contrition will save him from the dock. He has finally acknowledged that the invasion (and occupation) of Iraq was/is based on incorrect information (lies). Supporters and citizens who desperately hope that Bush’s admission demonstrates his contrition had their hopes dashed against the hard reality of further sordid deeds – the illegal 'bugging' and monitoring of US citizen’s private communications by the NSA. [Would anyone seriously expect this criminal administration to change character?] Bush’s admission is a political gesture, a strategic manoeuvre in response to increasing international disapproval of the dishonesty of his regime. more...  0 Comments

"Judge in Scooter Libby, Sibel Edmonds cases is redacted in action"

Bill Conroy | "What do two of the biggest national-security news stories of the century — the Valerie Plame leak scandal and the legal case of FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds — have in common?
They both are being presided over by the same federal judge in the District of Colombia, Reggie Walton, a Bush appointee to the federal court and a man who appears to have a few well-kept secrets of his own."

Information Operations, Open Source Intelligence,

and Peacekeeping Intelligence

Information Operations (IO) represents the new semantics of war &

peace, wealth & democracy. Information Peacekeeping (IPK) is the

converse of Information Warfare (IW). America is soon to have in

effect a range of Joint Intelligence Operations Centers or Commands

(JIOC) with embedded Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) feeds in all

languages on all topics, and the requisite man-machine Foreign

Language (FL) and Advanced Analytics (AA) able to make sense of all

information, in all languages, all the time.

Modern IO consists of Strategic Communications (the message), Open

Source Intelligence (the shareable reality), and JIOCS with FL and AA

(the technologies).

Modern IO is the new American "way of war" and offers enormous

potential in ten "IO-heavy" mission areas:

· Strategic Communication & Public Diplomacy

· Peacekeeping Intelligence & Information Peacekeeping

· Early Warning & Stabilization-Reconstruction Operations

· Homeland Defense & Emergency Responder Civil Support

· National Education & National Research for National Wealth

Join Congressman Rob Simmons (R-CT-02), Alvin & Heidi Toffler, and

many other world-class speakers including Canadian, Croatian, Dutch,

English, South African, and Swedish experts on the emerging

intersection of open source software, open spectrum, open source

information, open access copyright, and open societies.

All participants in the three day event will receive the new book on

IO, as well as new books on Commercial Intelligence and on

Peacekeeping Intelligence. One may elect to participate in only one

day, and/or the training day on Friday.

All participants receive three weeks of free access to Silobreaker

analytic link and visualization tools, and thousands of international

Don't make yourself a fool. Don't Vote!!

carst | Elections are held under occupation and even active warfare. People are voting under the gun and in the face of warplanes, helicopters, tanks and all kinds of threats, if they want more war and destruction, or if they better vote for those who are favored by - or at least acceptable to - the aggressors and occupiers in hope of an easing of the terror inflicted upon them. more...  2 Comments

War on Santa

Philip Kovacs, | After returning from the mall, I've decided that the "War on Christmas" is being waged in the wrong place, in the wrong way, and at the wrong time. The enemy is not "Happy Holidays," the enemy is Santa Claus, and if you'll bear with me, I think it's time for progressives and conservatives, and all the wise refusing such nonsense labels, to unite against this elf. more...  0 Comments

Brief Reportback on Kissinger at NYU

~ | The NYU grads agitating for a union held a noisy demonstration outside.

The panel was mostly in Spanish til it got to Kissinger - then some of the grad students who were ther unfurled a banner of their demands - shouted them and upbraided the NYU president for inviting a war criminal -before they were hustled out.

As Kissinger resumed mumbling compliments at the success of Columbia (country, not University) He was shouted down and called a mass murderer several times and the NYU president was again upbraided.

The crowd inside the small auditorium was mostly conservative and did not join in. This was repeated once more, later, during Kissinger's segment of the panel. All was captured by the contingent of foreign press and photographers.

Also - the small demonstration outside could be heard, faintly, inside. more...  4 Comments

Iraq: Make or Break in 2006

A.K. Gupta | After Rep. John Murtha’s revelation that the U.S. Army is on the verge of falling apart, it’s clear that 2006 will be a make-or-break year for the U.S. occupation. This realization is the motivating factor in the Bush administration’s campaign for “Victory in Iraq.” It wants to crush the armed resistance within the next year so it can begin to draw down U.S. troops and avoid a rout in next fall’s congressional elections. But, as a recent U.S. Army War College report put it, the U.S. is caught in a trap: “We can’t stay, we can’t leave, and we can’t fail.” more...  1 Comments

Protest Henry Kissinger and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe (Union Killer!) at NYU -- Thursday, 6 PM

SALVADOR ALLENDE TE QUEREMOS | This panel, ominously named "New Political Policies
for the Americas" is no
neutral "dialogue" about the way forward for the
people of South America.
NYU is giving the stage to Kissinger and Uribe to lay
out neoliberal
policy--policy that has and continues to open the way
for union-busting,
corporate dominance and manipulation by predatory
lending agencies. It is
no surprise that NYU gives a voice to such characters,
because here at NYU
the administration follows the same policy of busting
unions for corporate
