Rice begins Mideast tour to promote US-Israeli war aims

Patrick Martin | US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Beirut, Lebanon Monday, the first stop in a trip whose purpose is to shore up the joint US-Israeli military campaign against Hezbollah and give more time for the Israeli military to use American bombs and weapons to devastate Lebanon.
Rice visits Israel not, as media accounts suggest, to act as a moderating influence on the Zionist regime. Rather, following the logic of Bush administration foreign policy, Rice will pressure the Israelis to intensify the violence in south Lebanon so as to create the optimum conditions for joint Israeli and American pressure against the Syrian regime of President Bashar Assad. more...  0 Comments

NO Deportations, NO Border Walls, NO Minutemen

NO MORE DEPORTATIONS
NO MORE BORDER WALLS
NO MORE SO-CALLED 'WAR ON TERROR'
NO MORE MINUTEMEN

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE 'NO ONE IS ILLEGAL' COALITION TO PROTEST MINUTEMAN FOUNDER JIM GILCHRIST 'S APPEARANCE AT GROUND ZERO

PLEASE CALL: 347.537.3433

11 am, July 26
City Hall Park
Corner of Murray St and Broadway

From there, we will march to the corner of Church and Liberty Sts to rally with other pro-immigrant organizations.

Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist is coming to "Ground Zero" to link his war on immigrants to the rhetoric around a "War on Terror" used to justify US military intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the arrest, frequent torture, and deportation without charges of masses of Arab and Muslim immigrants in this country.
While the Minutemen portray themselves as a tolerant group concerned only with border security, they are in fact and armed militia group that seeks to recruit members on the basis of racist lies, such as Gilchrist's claim that "20 % of southern border-crossers are known criminals, drug dealers, sex
traffickers, and gang lords.' Gilchrist is a member of the openly white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens, and ex-leader of the Minutemen James Chase wrote to him in 2005 that ""You have murderers in your ranks. You have Nazis, other anti-Jews, and anti-Hispanic racists side by side with you."
Neither the Minutemen Project nor the "War on Terror" (and its domestic agent, the ICE) have anything to do with security, let alone concern for those who died on 9/11/2001. Both stir up racist hatred to turn attention away from the real causes of instability in the lives of working people in this country.

In reality, immigrant labor contributes to the US economy and an increase in jobs rather than "stealing jobs", while the US military remains, in the words of Martin Luther King, by far "the greatest purveyor of violence" in the world today.

JOIN THE 'NO ONE IS ILLEGAL' (NOISI) COALITION AND A DIVERSE GROUP OF CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS FOR
A PRESS CONFERENCE TO EXPOSE GILCHRIST 'S LIES, AND CALL FOR FULL RIGHTS FOR ALL IMMIGRANTS!

The real aims of the US-backed Israeli war against Lebanon

Statement of the Editorial Board | As the onslaught against Lebanon enters its tenth day, Israeli troops are poised for a full-scale invasion that has been prepared by murderous aerial bombardment, and the far-reaching imperialist aims of the war have become all too clear.
With the full political, financial and military backing of the United States, the Zionist regime is attempting to transform Lebanon into an Israeli protectorate. This military operation is a continuation and escalation of the imperialist geo-political restructuring of the Middle East and Central Asia that began with the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, and whose goal is the establishment of US domination of the entire region.
The immediate aim of this war—the elimination of Hezbollah as a military and political force within Lebanon—is directed against all mass resistance to Israeli and American domination of the country. The Bush administration and its allies in Jerusalem see this as an essential step toward: 1) the removal of the Syrian Baathist regime, and 2) the launching of a full-scale war against Iran.
While the Israeli government and the Bush administration endlessly repeat propaganda claims that the attack on Lebanon is an act of “self defense” prompted by the seizure of two soldiers, this assertion enjoys no credibility among knowledgeable observers. more...  0 Comments

Israel, Lebanon, Palestinian Conflict
