Police State in Oaxaca

On July 16, 2007, as thousands of Oaxaquenos attempted to hold the People´s Guelaguetza, marching in the streets to the auditorium at the Fortin Mountain, police forces attacked the unarmed, peaceful crowd. Clashes ensued between the marchers and the police, lasting over five hours and resulting in 1 protester killed, 30 critically injured, and 65 detained or disappeared.
