Jacquie Simone | A July 9 rally, organized by the Correctional Association of New York, New York Civil Liberties Union and Women on the Rise Telling HerStory (WORTH), was held outside Governor Paterson's NYC office in support of state anti-shackling legislation (S.1290-A/A. 3373-A). The bill would ban the use of restraints on incarcerated women during labor and post-delivery recovery and limit the use of restraints during transportation to and from hospitals in New York. Rogouski | According to the Tel Aviv Centenial Board's press release "this Sunday the Israeli Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Tel Aviv Yafo Centennial Administration and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be brought Israel to New York by turning the area of Central Park near the Naumberg Bandshell into an artificial Tel Aviv beachfront, complete with a 1,300 square foot sand section featuring chairs and parasols- allowing visitors to soak up a faux-authentic Mediterranean tan."
