City College students under attack AGAIN!

The City College administration, pressured by CUNY Chancellor Goldstein, has launched an attack against the Guillermo Morales / Assata Shakur Community Center. The Center has served the needs of students and the community for 17 years. It was named after Assata Shakur and Guillermo Morales, two people who have struggled for the liberation of Black and Latino people. CCNY administrators are threatened by Assata Shakur and Guillermo Morales and have censored our freedom to honor their contributions to the struggle for liberation.

This is a blatant distraction from the vicious murder by the police, in a hail of 50 bullets, of Sean Bell, an unarmed man the night before his wedding . This execution has shocked the city and the country, and the police are desperate to deflect people’s attention. To keep the media away from the real issues, they and their allies are lashing out against the people.

Harlem residents are also being pushed out of their homes through gentrification, facing the defunding of neighborhood hospitals, miseducated in the public schools, and targeted by the police. Communities of color and working people in general have been left out of the political debate, in NYC and everywhere. In order to reclaim our voice, we must speak out in the face of opposition and hostility.

Join us on Wednesday to confront the CCNY administration and support the students in the righteous struggle to keep the Guillermo Morales / Assata Shakur Community Center open and available to the entire community.
